What can be matched to a route today?

Each layer needs coordinates or route geometry, a useful distance rule, adequate coverage and publication permission. A held dataset is not automatically shown.

Stays, food and repair

1,760 public stay records, 3,483 food/pub records and 687 bike-service records are matched to held route geometry, falling back to a representative coordinate only when no line is held.

Overture Maps CDLA-Permissive projection; direct verification required.

Traffic and collisions

149,399 STATS19 collision records and 600,551 annual traffic-flow rows support fixed-area context around a representative route coordinate.

Historical evidence only; never a route risk or safety score.

Rail, metro, ferry and coach access

362,520 NaPTAN access nodes can be searched by route coordinate. Route pages show a small, deduplicated set of nearby major access points.

Not a timetable, disruption feed or bicycle-carriage promise.
Live where covered

Water and biodiversity context

16,819 fish-survey sites and 2,153 governed access records can be joined by distance to route geometry or coordinates.

Survey points do not prove access; neither layer identifies drinking water.

Weather by route and date

44,647 historical daily records cover only 5 reference stations through 2025-08-27. That is not dense enough for a route/date forecast or local riding-condition claim.

A global station-to-route materialisation and forecast freshness contract are still required.

Cycling events

The event database contains 28 sports events, but only 4 are cycling events and 1 of those has usable coordinates.

Too sparse for route pages; no generic event filler is published.

Elevation and climbing

16,172 routes have two-dimensional line geometry and 525 have point-only geometry, but only 0 route records currently carry a governed ascent value.

No synthetic elevation profile is generated from unrelated terrain samples.

Beaches and general biodiversity

Bathing-water and reusable biodiversity sources exist in the estate, but there is no complete, sensitivity-aware route projection yet.

Beach status needs dated season semantics; sensitive species coordinates require suppression rules.
Directory only

Bike share

1,534 GBFS systems are discoverable by country and location name. Station status, vehicle positions and live availability are intentionally not archived or claimed.

Use the system directory as a hand-off, not a route-level availability signal.
No governed layer

Drinking water

Nearby cafés, pubs and waters are not evidence of a potable refill point. Route pages therefore tell riders to carry sufficient water and verify refills locally.

This remains absent until a governed, current water-point source is qualified.
Restricted accommodation remains private

Booking.com, VRBO and Breaks accommodation holdings are not used on CycleTripPlanner because the current estate records do not prove public republication permission for this site. Only the public Overture place projection is shown, without prices or availability.

Join rule

Line geometry is preferred for route-adjacent place, repair and water matching. When only one coordinate is available, the page says so. Traffic/collision context deliberately remains a fixed-area representative-point layer, and absence from any source is never presented as proof of safety, access or service availability.
